Welcome to Post-Punk Music

Now in its 15th year, this website’s purpose has been to archive a host of genres spanning the 1960s to 1980s and beyond via live, spoken, recorded and photographic documentation, specifically focussed on the reunion years of the punk, post-punk and new wave genres some three to four decades after their formation. After randomly picking up two classic post-punk CDs from a HMV store while at university in Liverpool and seeing a photography exhibition featuring the Simon Reynolds quote at the bottom of this page, Ayisha Khan, London based qualified journalist, created an archive by single handedly collating material from live concerts through written reviews and photographs – mostly undocumented by the current online and print music media – with a focus on news not nostalgia. The archive’s photographic content is produced by a team of talented freelance photographers that contribute to the site. As well as live coverage, there are also in-depth interviews with a plethora of artists in the industry. Ayisha furthermore has a library of live concert audio made on handheld digital devices spanning the lifetime of the archive which is intended to be made available on this site in the coming months. Stay tuned…and in the meantime please enjoy the only archive of its kind!
